Breathe into a stressful moment with longer exhalation. Longer exhales help to ease the sympathetic nervous system (fight, flight, or freeze). When we lengthen the exhale, we’re better able to find our power and invite a sense of relaxation.
Practice the power of long exhale.
Take a few deep breaths, in through the nose, out through the mouth to get present.
Begin to take intentionally longer exhales: breath in through your nostrils for a count of 1, 2, 3; breathe out through your mouth for 1, 2, 3, 4. Aim for effortless inhales and exhales.
Go deeper by extending the length of inhalations and exhalations for 3-4 rounds.
